How the real BCBA exam is built
The BCBA exam is 185 multiple-choice questions — 160 scored and 25 unscored pilot items — with a 4-hour limit, delivered at Pearson VUE and built on the BACB 6th Edition Test Content Outline.
It is a substantially harder exam than the RBT one: first-time pass rates sit near 50%, and retake rates are lower still. The questions are less about recalling a definition and more about applying a principle to a scenario you have not seen before — which is why timed full-length practice, rather than flashcards alone, is what moves a score.
