Exam Day Timeline
Arrive Early
Plan to arrive at least 30 minutes before your scheduled time. Use the bathroom, silence your phone, and take a few deep breaths in the car.
Present Your ID
Bring two valid forms of ID (one must be government-issued with a photo). The name on your ID must EXACTLY match your BACB registration. Even a middle initial difference can cause problems.
Store Your Belongings
You'll store everything in a locker — phone, wallet, watch, jacket, snacks. You cannot bring anything into the testing room. They provide a locker key.
Palm Scan & Photo
Pearson VUE captures a palm vein scan and photograph for identity verification. This happens before you enter and when you return from any breaks.
Begin the Exam
You'll sit at a computer in a monitored room. You receive a small dry-erase board and marker for notes. The exam has 85 questions with a 90-minute time limit.
Get Your Results
Results appear on the screen immediately as pass/fail (no score percentage). Official results are available through BACB within a few business days.

- Don't cram the morning of. Trust your preparation. Light review only.
- Use the dry-erase board to write down the SEAT acronym and any mnemonics before you start.
- Read every question twice. The RBT exam loves "trick" wording like "LEAST likely" and "MOST appropriate."
- If you don't know an answer, flag it and move on. Come back after you finish everything else.
- You have about 63 seconds per question. Don't spend more than 2 minutes on any single question.
ID Mismatch Warning
The #1 reason people are turned away at Pearson VUE is an ID name mismatch. If your driver's license says “Michael J. Smith” but your BACB account says “Michael Smith,” you may be denied entry. Check this before exam day.
